Thermodynamic Food Rating — how efficiently your body converts food into useful work
Read the full paperNot all calories are equal. A calorie measures heat from combustion. But your body is a thermodynamic system that converts free energy into useful work — building tissue, reducing inflammation, powering mitochondria.
TFR measures conversion efficiency: how much useful biological work you get per unit of metabolic cost. High TFR = clean fuel, low entropy cost. Low TFR = your body spends more energy dealing with the food than it gets back.
The formula: TFR = (ATP_eff × Bioavailability × OXPHOS_eff × (1 - TEF)) / (1 + Inflammation + ROS + Waste)
Tier A+ means high efficiency, low entropy. Tier F means the food is a net entropy producer — it creates more disorder than order.
